Information on Cement
Portland Cement is a material obtained as a result of grinding clinker with a specific amount of gypsum and additives at suitable amounts depending on the type of cement.
Cement should, when blended and mixed with aggregate and water at suitable proportions, maintain its workability for sufficient period of time and reach specific resistance levels in specified periods and to show long term volume stability.
Definition of cement in TS EN 197-1 standard is as follows: “Cement is an inorganic and fine grinded, hydraulic binder forming a paste that sets and hardens because of hydration reactions and processes when mixed with water and that maintains its strength and stability even under water after hardening”.
